hi laz,

Did you install mplayer/mencoder to /usr/local/bin or anywhere else ? 
Then you should specify the mplayer/mencoder path with -P'vdrrip -p 
<mplayer-path> -e <mencoder-path>'. Delete also the file save.vdrrip in 
the video-directory of the movie before the next opening of it in the 
encoding-menu. If that doesn't help, please post the messages from 
syslog and the file <vdr-config-dir>/plugins/templates.vdrrip.
