Streamdev works out of the box to XBMC.  Been doing it for awhile now.  
I use v1.0 HTB release I believe of XBMC don't remember if that is the 
exact ver but the one with all the extras.  You just need to make some 
m3u files in whatever dir and inside them add the url to your vdr box.

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3000/channel  
Works like a champ, of course you have to have a seperate m3u file per 
channel you would want to watch but it has the capability.  What someone 
smarter than I obviously wouldn't take much since I am not smart!: ) 
could do is make some sort of frontend to change channels!  Streamdev 
and VDR rock!
