AFAIK "vanilla vdr-1.3.17" still means vanilla vdr, so I'd think its for 
1.3.17 without the new thread.[ch].
Plugins will compile if they are not using thread-unsafe functions.

I also think it'd be a good thing to have the poisonings in vanilla 1.3.18.
