Well, if you see things this way there's no need to save them after CHANNELSAVEDELTA either.

What exactly is it that would make it necessary to save channels.conf
on exit?
The fact that there are unsaved changes. I was testing the channelscan plugin and I was slightly annoyed that after exiting vdr the changes weren't written to the file. Not a big issue, I can modify vdr myself and/or wait 10 minutes before exiting.
