[vdr] thread %d won't end, canceling

I'm occasionally getting this message when shutting down VDR (my
daemon does this with kill -15 of the master process, if that does
matter), but it looks like it does not really kill the thread. Instead
I have one thread running at nearly 100% CPU; when I kill -9 that
thread the rest of VDR exits too.

This seems to happen when a long series of ring buffer overflows have
occurred before.

This is on VDR 1.3.18 with xine 0.7.0, glibc 2.2.5 (so surely no NPTL)
on Linux 2.6.9.

Any idea what's going on?
