Softdevice and ATI Radeon overlay issue

Hi, I am using softdevice (0.2.3, I was using 0.2.2 before) in a system with an ATI Radeon 9500 AGP, Xorg 6.8.2 , ATI's fglrx driver ver 8.24.8 . Xorg is loading the ATI xv-overlay. Overlay mode is set to "psuedo" (hardware?). I've tried VDR versions 1.3.44 to 1.3.48 with same behavior. Oddly, the OSD overlay seems to be "vertically interlaced" -- instead of being a smooth blackish-color on-top of the live video I see vertical banding, as if every other vertical line is not drawn. Depending on the background video, the text is sometimes hard to read. If I set the overlay mode to "software" then the OSD is really messed same. "Software" also did not work with an nVidia TNT2 using Xorg 6.8.2's nVidia driver. I know what the OSD "should" look like, when I was using vdr-xine, the OSD was a uniform blackish color cleanly overlayed on top of video. Are there any suggestions? Thank you. CR.

Digit buttons in cMenuEditStrItem work poorly

The number buttons on my RCU carry auxiliary labels "ABC", "DEF", etc. These buttons work somewhat when editing the names of recordings. I can always get the first letter of the label, e.g., "a", "d", "g", "j", "m", and so on. However, when I press the same button again, VDR will usually interpret it as a "cursor right" event. Key-repeat events are ignored. For instance, when I start editing the string "Euronews" by pressing the Right button in the "Edit timer" menu, it will display as follows: Right-> [E]uronews 2-> [A]uronews 2-> Au[a]onews If I keep a longer pause between the two keypresses of the button "2", the string will change to "Aaronews". While testing this, I once got the correct behaviour: [A]uronews -> [B]uronews -> [C]uronews. Could the code forget to initialize some variable properly? Am I the only one who is experiencing this? In case it matters, I'm using LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.iso-8859-1, and the remote control unit is driven by the <linux/input.h> driver of cx88-input.c. The key-press and key-repeat events are delivered by the vdr-softdevice plugin, which gets them via the linuxinput driver of DirectFB. Key-release events are not delivered. Marko

astra and hotbird

hi, i want to use astra and hotbird, but i don't know how. what is the easiest way? at the moment i have a quad-lnb for astra and two dvb-s cards. i wanted to by a additional lnb for hotbird and put it together on the satellite dish. but how do i have to connect it to the computer? normally i want to see astra, only sometimes hotbird, so i don't want to use one dvb-s card only for hotbird. i found a diseq-switch, wich has two in and one out connectors. is it possible to connect one line from astra an one from hotbird to that switch and from the switch to one of the dvb-cards. the other card stays at the second line from astra. is it possible for vdr to handle this? and what if for example i watch with the dvb-card (1) which is connected directly to astra and at the same time i want to record at astra with the other dvb-card (2). should work. now i stop watching on 1 and want to see hotbird. what does vdr do? switch recording to 1 and watch hotbird via 2? any other possibility to include hotbird? better solution? thanks olli

Problem using vdr 1.4.0 and vdr-dxr3-0.2.5 plugin !

Hello, I've installed this evening vdr 1.4.0 and various plugins. All is compiling fine (wel, all plugins I want).... but when I start vdr, the video moves for less than half of a seconfd then freeze ! I can use my remote controler to switch channels, set the plugins or start whatever... Watching a recorded movie results in the same problem ! The display freezes, but the remote controler (and also vdr) is still working ! The processor is running at around 60% whereas using vdr 1.3.36 (my current running version), the processor runs generally at less than 10%. I'm releasing a new version of a softphone plugin for vdr (http://www.cadsoft.de/vdr). This plugin is available at http://www.ventoso.org/luca/vdr/ From the README file: This plugin is a very simple (read: not very featureful and hopefully with an high WAF ;-) softphone using the iax protocol (asterisk server). It uses the iaxclient library (http://iaxclient.sourceforge.net) to handle every details of the call, so the plugin is just an user interface. It needs a free (i.e that isn't used by something else, like a softdevice plugin), full-duplex sound card. There are no new features, this is a compatibility version for vdr >= 1.3.47 (including 1.4.0).
