preferred way of running xineliboutput with output to a dedicated screen?

>From what I've read on http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Xineliboutput-plugin, xineliboutput can output video directly via framebuffer, does this mean that X.org is of no use? I've tried starting 'vdr-sxfe --video=fb ...' (or DirectFB) but it keeps telling it can't connect to X server. What would you suggest when running xineliboutput on a vdr box with the only output via hdmi? TIA.

Hi! There is a new version of the Sudoku plug-in. Download: http://toms-cafe.de/vdr/sudoku/vdr-sudoku-0.3.0.tgz Changes since version 0.2.1: - Added history function. - Added setup options to configure red, green and yellow key. - Changed default commands for red, green and yellow key: mark, undo and redo. - Added setup options to configure fonts (VDR >= 1.5.4). - Updated German language texts. - Added French language texts (thanks to Patrice Staudt). This plugin generates Number Place puzzles, so called Sudokus, and let you solve it. A Sudoku puzzle consists of 9 x 9 cells subdivided into 9 regions with 3 x 3 cells. The rules are simple. There have to be the numbers from 1 to 9 in every row, column and region. In the beginning some numbers are given. These cells are painted with cyan background color. e.g with the following: -- xineliboutput.Video.Deinterlace = tvtime xineliboutput.Video.DeinterlaceOptions = method=Greedy2Frame,cheap_mode=0,pulldown=none,framerate_mode=full,judder_correction=0,use_progressive_frame_flag=1,chroma_filter=1,enabled=1 -- i have a great pic watching a 1080i video and a then switching to TV mode, the picture would be heavily interlaced. what point do i miss? TIA.

New version of the Webvideo plugin is available at http://users.tkk.fi/~aajanki/vdr/webvideo/vdr-webvideo-0.0.2.tgz The Webvideo plugin allows downloading video files from video sharing websites, such as YouTube or Google Video, to your hard disk using the VDR menu interface. This plugin only downloads videos, a separate plugin, such as xineliboutput or mplayer plugin, is needed to play them. Changes since the last version: - Italian translation (thanks to Diego Pierotto) - Support for mms URLs using libmms - Guess the file extension from the Content-Type header, not from the defaultext tag - New video service: YLE Areena (the web service of the Finland's national broadcasting company). Only partial support, some of the URLs do not work with libmms. - Youtube: Download higher quality MPEG-4 videos Antti

intelfb 830M, directfb and xineliboutput

Hi, I'm trying to set my T-Online S100 (Intel 830M) up as a VDR-Client. Someone in the zenega forum finally got intelfb to output via SCART[1] and that's what I'm planning to use in the end. But for now I can't get vdr-fbfe working with directfb on VGA-out. I compiled 2.6.26 with intelfb included and used video=intelfb:mode=1024x768-16@60,accel,hwcursor,vram=16 as cmdline. With directfb-1.2.0 and a mode entry in /etc/fb.modes[2] I can run the dfb-examples (df_andi etc) more or less fine. Xineliboutput + Coreavc 1.7.0

Hi, wanted to play with it and failed. My System : Ubuntu 8.04 xineliboutput cvs xine-lib 1.1.11.1 + http://www.nabble.com/PATCH:-Add-support-for-CoreAVC-via-dshowserver-td1810… vdr 1.7.0 + reinhard's patches vdr-sxfe starts up, only plays audio but no video. after about 10 seconds the player segfaults. Any sugestions what im making wrong ? cu Edgar (gimli) Hucek

Thanks. That's the wiki item named 'Manual' that misled me. Probably worth merging the MANUAL with the man page (which stands for manual anyways)?

Lauri, I've found only one manual so far: http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/VDR_User%27s_Manual. It doesn't contain a word on setup.conf. Also studied the entire wiki, the man page. Could you please provide a link to the exact manual you mean? TIA.
