Understanding the dataflow

Hi, there is a long discussion at http://www.vdr-portal.de/board16-video-disk- recorder/board55-vdr-plugins/111788-wunschkonzert-livebuffer-plugin/ (german) about the old livebuffer patch and how a new one could look alike. Since I'm missing some features of a "real" livebuffer very much and have some ideas how this could be implemented in an effective and less-invasive way I started to familiarize myself into the VDR source. I still have problems to understand the way the stream data takes from the the dvb device to the screen. I would be very thankfully if you can help me to get the "big picture". These are my assumptions. Please correct me where I'm wrong, and complete where I missed some point. There's a cDevice, I think that's an abstraction of the real hardware. cReceiver controls the device by selecting a channel and transportings stream data to the player. This means, if you watch a show and record another on the same device there would be one device and two receivers. A device could also be a foreign source, e.g. in streamdev. A special receiver is cRecorder. It just selects a channel and writes the stream data into a file. What is cPlayer? As cTransfer implements both cReceiver and cTransfer I thought about it as some kind of frontend abstraction (FF-output, xine, streamdev-server). But it seems that cPlayer directly acts on cDevice, and that doesn't make sense to me at the moment. Furthermore, I'm still not quote sure where all these components where attached to each other. HDMI-CEC dvbhddevice - TV switches itself on continuously

Hello list, My VDR box with dvbhddevice is connected through an Onkyo HTX-22D 2.1 home cinema set to my new Samsung UE32D6530 TV. I enabled HDMI-CEC on both the Samsung and the Onkyo. This works nicely, the Onkyo automatically switches on and off with the TV, and the Samsung remote operates on the Onkyo volume. Now I also need to enable HDMI-CEC in the dvbhddevice. If I don't, my Onkyo will deselect VDR as an input source after a few seconds, and I have to manually reselect it using the Onkyo remote. But if I do enable HDMI-CEC in VDR, I cannot switch off the TV. If I use the Samsung remote to switch off the TV, both the TV and the Onkyo will switch off, but both will switch on again after a few seconds. I need to pull the HDMI plug from my VDR box before I can switch off the TV. I'm using Fedora 16 x86_64 with VDR 1.7 RPM's from rawhide. I recently upgraded from 1.7.22 to 1.7.27, because I could see there are new HDMI-CEC options. The old version just had one option, enable or disable. The new version has the extra options to no switch on and off the TV. I have these new options set to disabled. Still my TV switches on when connected to VDR. BTW, it would be cool if "shut down" VDR could be interpreted as shutdown just the hardware decoder part on the dvbhddevice, but leave the tuners running. I don't want my VDR box to be shut down for any reason, but stopping the hardware decoder when not viewing could possibly save some power and heat dissipation. Thanks, Pim

vdr remote

Looks like the new remote from reelmedia is specially made for VDR, with all labels corresponding to the correct keys. It would certainly yield a better WAF for the VDR box. Says programmable, but does any insiders know if can be programmed to control volume and on/off for a TV, without any 'mode change'? VDR on setTopBox

Hello, i use VDR on a atevio 7500 it works realy fine. But i have a Problem with DVB-C (Unitmedia Alphacrypt um02) Actually i'm using vdr-1.7.27 with this plugin. http://gitorious.org/open-duckbox-project-sh4/tdt/trees/master/tdt/cvs/apps… With normal channel switching it works fine. if i use private channels from unitymedia, hangs the after switching. if i go from sat1 to zdf and put the cam out then i got this massage. vdr: [972] ERROR: can't write to CI adapter on device 0: Invalid argument vdr: [972] CAM 1: no module present I have a feeling, if i switch then the cam modul dont stop. i comment out /* if (CamSlot() && !ChannelCamRelations.CamDecrypt(Channel->GetChannelID(), CamSlot()->SlotNumber())) StartTransferMode |= LiveView && IsPrimaryDevice() && Channel->Ca() >= CA_ENCRYPTED_MIN; */ becouse if vdr start on a decrypting channel then i have a lock. if i comment out i have to switch one time to get a lock. can some help me please p.s. sorry for my englisch ;)
