Independent from that you can configure the nVidia-Xserver to output a PAL/RGB compatible signal. And connect a CRT via a VGA-to-SCART cable.
But until the patch is ported to nVidia (if ever) you must use a deinterlacer.
I attached my 'xorg.conf' and 'Xorg.0.log' which runs in several configurations here without problems. Maybe you give it a try.
BTW: we do not use any of these evil TV encoder things. Just forget about that.
