A few months ago someone announced a new web interface for VDR, other than vdradmin. Can anyone remember what it is?
Alternatively, maybe there are some simple fixes for vdradmin? There are two problems I have with it (currently using 0.96-5 from Debian):
(a) When VDR and vdradmin are both run at startup, there seems to be a race condition. Most times it all works correctly, but quite often vdradmin seems to decide it can't communicate with VDR until it (vdradmin) is restarted. Couldn't it just try again when a page is reloaded?
(b) Channels added in the Configuration screen often don't appear in the menus in the "What's on?" and "Channels" pages. I mentioned this before and one of the authors thought this might be to do with certain flags in channels.conf and maybe they should think about dropping the check. Looks like they didn't get round to that :-/. I use the scan program to generate my channels.conf so that I can have the Freeview numbers, but VDR isn't quite happy with the format and tends to create problems.

There's also a much improved version of vdradmin available at http://andreas.vdr-developer.org/

If Tony isn't interested, I'll do it. I also speak fluent German.

any support are welcome. we have a spot of work for everybody. :-)
e.g. * a translation to english http://bandt.dyndns.org/horde/chora/co.php?r=389&f=LIESMICH.txt
* a spell check for http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Xxv based on http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Xxv
* a spell check for field msgid, for proper english messages http://bandt.dyndns.org/horde/chora/co.php?r=391&p=1&f=locale%2Fde.p...
But all translation to other languages could send us. Like this german translation, simple adjust field msgstr, and we integrate this on xxv. http://bandt.dyndns.org/horde/chora/co.php?r=391&p=1&f=locale%2Fde.p...
Thanks for yours help, Andreas

Sorry, I don't think I'd be much good at that because I don't know German!

All it does for me is print an empty dashed rectangle at the top of the web page. My locale is en_GB FWIW. I can't try anything else apart from "C", which gives the same result, because my system doesn't support it.

That still has problems with channels configuration. This morning I tried to add a channel ("five") in the Configuration page. I tried Save and Apply and restarting vdradmin, but the new channel just wouldn't appear in the menu on the Channels page. But now, after some more restarts (because I was trying Xxv) and several hours, it is available!
