A DVB-S/S2 PCI card from DVBWorld.

Overview/Features

Low profile DVB-S/S2 PCI card.

Components Used

Making it Work

Firmware

Firmware is available with the DVBWorld 2004D Linux driver at http://www.worlddvb.com.cn/down/fw.rar (But what's with the proprietary RAR archive format? Geez...)

wget http://www.worlddvb.com.cn/down/fw.rar
sudo apt-get install unrar-free
unrar x fw.rar
sudo cp /fw/dvb-fe-ds3000.fw /lib/firmware/dvb-fe-ds3000.fw

Driver

The driver is include in the kernel since 2.6.34.

If DVB-S2 has stopped working for you reverse the "ds3000: decrease mpeg clock output" patch. [1] DVB-S2 with SR from 10000 and higher seem to lock and play fine. I've never had any success playing lower SR DVB-S2 streams. They will tune but no data gets put on the dvb device.

The card will tune and play DVB-S once then you have to turn the computer off and restart before you can tune and play a different DVB-S transponder. Also you have to kill the tuning app once the card has tuned and use something like dvbstream to read the TS and send it to your player. If you tune the card directly with the player the card has massive TS discontinuity errors every time the fe info is read making the stream mostly unplayable.

Remote Control Support

The remote is supported by the device.
