On this page you will find information regarding ATSC USB devices.

Note: Please be aware that:
  • The information contained here is likely non-exhaustive (please help to keep these lists up-to-date so that they are useful for everyone!)
  • Generally, when it comes to support for USB devices, it is a good idea to try the current Hg sources because some device drivers can be very new and thus may have not made their way into the mainstream kernel.

Supported ATSC USB Devices

The following table lists the confirmed working ATSC PCI cards and provides a brief summary of their features and components.

In addition to this list,

  • there are several devices that may actually work with existing drivers, but no reports have yet been provided. If you have such a non-listed but working device please do report your success (either here and/or on the dvb-mailing list). Your contribution would be greatly appreciated, and would allow for developers to add your device's definitions to the current drivers, so that it may be properly listed/named when detected.
  • if you do not see your card on the list, there may already be experimental support available. Currently, the best source for information on devices with experimental support is found by searching the dvb mailing list achieves (Google works well) or by posting a question about the device directly to the list (but please conduct a search first, as it may already have been discussed).

Experimental Support

Within the developers section of the LinuxTV Project's Mercurial (Hg) repository, experimental support for the following devices can be found:

  • Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950
  • Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick (800e)
    • Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick ... looks to be the exact same as the "Pro" sans the remote and a/v cables
  • Elgato Hybrid
  • OnAir USB HDTV (original Sasem model)
  • OnAir USB HDTV Creator

Do not let the "experimental" tag scare you, as the level of device functionality may actually be quite high. After additional testing and/or feature work, the drivers for these devices will make their way into the main branch of Hg and become candidates for inclusion into the Linux kernel.

Currently Unsupported ATSC USB Devices

If you own one or more devices from the following list and you want to help the development, please contact the linux-dvb Mailing list.
