Kworld V-Stream Xpert DVB-T PCI for DVB-T with remote & IR-receiver (included).

There are three known variants of this card:

  • one with a Thomson DTT 7579 tuner
  • another with a Thomson tuner (similar to the Nova-T 90002)
  • and another with a Samsung tuner similar to the AVerMedia 771

Thomson Tuner DTT 7579

Overview

MattiasHolmlund ==

I bought this card to replace an AverMedia 761 that never worked reliably for me. The Kworld gives me much better reception and seems to work reliably with kernel 2.6.12

It was pretty hard to find this card in Sweden. I finally managed to buy it from http://www.microstore.se/. They call the card "V-Stream TV-kort för Marksänd DigitalTV, PCI" and make no mention of neither KWorld nor Xpert.

Software & Patch

Kworld V-Stream Xpert DVB-T

OS software & patches

For the first Kworld card, 17de:08a6, full support is included in kernel 2.6.13. For the second one, 17de:08a1, full support is included in kernel 2.6.16.

For kernel 2.6.11.2 you need a patch from Bytesex [[3]] and a patch to add 17de:08a1 from Marco Manenti [[4]] (described at [[5]]).

For kernel 2.6.12, only the patch from Marco Manenti [[6]] is necessary.

And the same patch for kernel 2.6.15 (ubuntu 6.04, but it should works for all the others) [[7]]

This device is re-branded as the Tevion DVB-T 100 PCI. It is recognised using lspci -v as Conexant CX22702 DVB-T 2k/8k (rev 05) Subsystem: KWorld Computer Co. Ltd.:Unknown device 08a6. The kernel module (CX88_DVB) is included under Multimedia Devices Conexant 2388x support (in 2.6.15), not in the Digital Video Broadcasting Devices.
