MPEG2 Stream Format, specified as part of the MPEG2 Standard in ITU-T H.222.0. Used for transport channels, e.g. when streaming MPEG2 content over networks.

Networks can be e.g. computer networks, DVB-C Cable Networks DVB-S Satellite Networks or DVB-T Networks.

The MPEG2 Transport Stream Format specifies how to encapsulate MPEG2 Elementary Stream Packets, the MPEG2 Multiplexing procedure, and how to add additional information like PSI Tables and Sync Information.

should we get more specific here? examples? more references to standards??
