Re: wintv 1955 i first contacted Hauppauge in late august, and they sent me some firmware (after i signed a NDA). i never received a driver/patch. i contacted them again in late October, and i was informed a open source driver had been submitted to (and to contact) linuxtv.org. today Jan 16 i checked linuxtv.org for a driver, and the page (dated jan 9 2015) says to contact Hauppauge for a (NDA) driver. just wondering the status on this driver, if it exists.

Hauppauge has made a kernel patch/driver for the 1955 available on their site.

instructions: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/install_ubuntu14_04_2-kernel-3.16.txt . they are for ubuntu but should work for any 3.16 kernel. minor source code changes may be needed for newer kernels.
