Did you compile vdr the default way or using VFAT=1 ?
If you did it the default way, it's not possible to
copy the directury structure to a windows machine, as
there is no windows filesystem that is capable to use
the character ":" in a file- or directory name.
Perhaps ftp did some character conversions ;-)
