OK, I apologize. I always seem to find the answer somewhere AFTER I send an 
email (never before :-)

Resistor is known to get too hot to touch. Still has me wondering about my 
dvbtune problems though :/ Especially since I am running the identical setup 
(including source/binaries) - but only changed the PC location. Not a hotter 
place as far as I can tell.
