Don't spend any energy in the OSD. it's deprecated, works only on AV7110 
based cards and driver support will be dropped one day. Think about 
porting Enigma or NeutrinoNG from the dbox2 to DirectFB or X11/XRender. 
The render and DVB classes there are well encapsulated and should be 
easy to replace.

Later you can add the PVR stuff from VDR.
