[linux-dvb] Re : Slightly OT Satellite question

Hi Dennis,

If you want to be able to decrypt SECA channels, you have to go with an
ASTON CAM Module and a Full Featured Card.

For the moment, the main issue is tbat ASTON CAM is not well supported
by the linux driver/firmware.

For instance, SECA2 has just arrived in France and it is not working
with current driver.

I think Dutch channels are still using SECA1 encryption ; but some day
you will have the same problem as I have with SECA2.

The other problem with ASTON CAM is multiple audio pids support. It
seems it is not a real problem on Dutch channels are most seem to have
only Dutch subtitles with original version audio.

I am very pessimistic concerning proper ASTON CAM support with
Convergence linux driver as Convergence is not using our cards
(Technotrend ones) to develop DVB platforms for their clients (at least
it is what I understood from previous threads on this topic).

Regards,
Patrick.
