No, in the same configuration file as you would do with VDR (same syntax,
eventually generated by [cts]zap (or is some other program?)), provided
it's in ~/.mplayer/channels.conf or  ~/.xine/channels.conf.

Both have a OSD menu, but xine doesn't hang on encrypted channels, mplayer
does (^C).

On the other side mplayer can record both the original stream or
a recompressed  one (codec at your choice), xine (afaik) can't.
