Hi,

can you play regular mpeg2 files with the same version of mplayer?

You can also try

mplayer dvb:// -vc ffmpeg12

to use ffmpeg's mpeg12 codec to decode the picture, rather than libmpeg2.

Your sound card doesn't have installed drivers.

Remember to load dvb-core with dvb_shutdown_timeout=0.
