Definitely go for it. Code it and they will come :)

I doubt you'll get complete (or any) agreement. I'd suggest
code a desired superset and export / import. 

Ideas and discussion are good but code trumps.

Hence, the vdr format is the defacto standard for now.

I like scconf, though, the lib that supports the format I mentioned
earlier. Turbo-charged .ini files.
