Audio and Video Streams contain Presentation Time Stamps (PTS) which reference to the PCR.

Do you have any reference which discusses this with examples of the
actual values involved?

Maybe you want to have a look on http://www.nhk.or.jp/strl/publica/bt/en/le0011.pdf if you don't want to read the standard... this one is a little more populistic but more compact and easier to read.
