what decoder are you using? I was able to decode full-resolution HDTV on 
a 2GHz Celeron with less than 50% CPU load, so I can't imagine that the 
PPC performs that bad. Decoding PAL resolution MPEG2 usually caused less 
load on a PPC than a equally-clocked x86...
