[linux-dvb] Re: Remove frequency bending from frontend core

currently we have struct dvb_frontend which is basically a container for struct dvb_frontend_data. I'd like to unify these two structs and get rid of the frontend list.

This is possible, but currently frequency bending relies on the ability to tell if two frontends are located on the same adapter.

IIRC Convergence has used this "feature" for exactly one demonstration board, where two frontends were located side by side and disturbed each other. It's not used by any of the major cards out there.
DiBcom does also have boards with up to 4 demods on it. Each one with a separate tuner and they use the diversity feature. I.e. The TS is passed through every demod and each one tries to correct packets the ones before did not receive correctly.

These boards are sold for mobile usage, because mobile reception is not so easy. E.g. in cars. Maybe in the future a car or at least the TV part will be controlled by a linux-controlled embedded system or so.

Don't know if the mentioned "feature" applies for this kind of usage. But if so, please have this in mind. If not, do it :).

best regards,
Patrick.
