[vdr] Re: VDR, RAMDISK & NFS



Hi Johannes,

I guess, you are running your vdr-process as user "root". This is special
for NFS. By default user root gets mapped to "nobody".

I can think of two solutions for you:

Try "umask 0000" before starting vdr (hope this should result in directories
created with 777 rights, I have no experience with umask under linux, but
this would be more or less equivalent to Solaris IIRC).

Better would be to start vdr as a different user or to export the NFS-Share
with the "no_root_squash" option, have a look into the "exports" manpage in
section 5 of your NFS-server. Of course you need to re-export your shares or
restart nfs-server processes.
