Why don't you let all the pachtes go in the main distribution now 
directly? If somebody doesn't want alternative colors or DVD support, it 
would be enough to not activate the specific option in the make file 
(perhaps in future as an autoconf option...)

A cvs also would be great: stable and develop versions, like the linux 
versioning scheme?
