Made it on debian with the 2.4.18 kernel patches for xfs. Worked on first try perfectly.

Yes, you also have the chance to do 'isochronous' transfers via xfs. Didn't try that.

c't said that xfs doesn't have the problem with interruption of the stream when transferring large data to and from disk (reiserfs seems to have problems with it while re-managing it's trees). But on my debian with xfs I've got also interruptions: transfer rate is very high until the buffers seem to be full. Then the rate drops down to almost zero for a couple of seconds, and then it is high again. This is also true for data rates that are approx. the half of 'full speed'.
Known problem?
