What's wrong with keyboard?  I'm using VDR on a virual console together
with an IR keyboard from Silitek (SK-7100) and IR mouse commander (Silitek
SM-1000) or PS/2 with an GPM driver which generates keyboard events
for the none mouse buttons of the IR mouse commander.  This works just
perfect (better than the SM-1000 supprt of LIRC ;^)
