First, there is nothing you can do to a linux system that you cannot repair by 
either bypassing init or by using a rescue disk set. (Exept of course, 
formatting and such.) It does however, require some linux knowledge. 

Secondly, can you try to convince your mailer to handle replies in a normal 
fashion ? The @@@ bits tend to make this rather confusing to follow...
