[vdr] problems with rgb cable

I made a J2 connection cable using a ribbon cable a few db-9 plugs and a
scart cable. The picture is pretty good and now I have color with my ntsc
vcd's. The problem is there are squiggly lines in the background. Not like
background noise due to a bad cable but more of a perfect pattern of tiny
lines. I checked and rechecked the cable. So I was wondering if maybe its
normal? It seems strange that I have a better picture with composite out.
Any ideas?
