Meanwhile I have uploaded a new version of VDR/ci.c to

  ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/pub/etc/ci.c

in which the initial handshake is repeated 10 times if the response from the CAM
is not T_CTC_REPLY. Please try this with your Alphacrypt and let me know what
happens.
