[vdr] Re: VDR, DXR3, DVB-T and anamorphic widescreen missing

I have a feeling that it worked (couldn't check WSS aspect control then) when I first tried VDR a month ago. Now with a new dedicated box it doesn't. Are's comment about working 16:9 is in line with that it probably worked once.

I'll try to find out more next weekend.

I've just noticed this too. I'm using a Nova-T and a DXR3 in the UK.
Everthing is 4:3 and channels that would be true 16:9 are shown
letter boxed in the 4:3 frame. Maybe we just have to wait for
further development of the DXR3 plugin?

Hi,

Has anybody succeeded in getting anamorphic widescreen output with VDR and DXR3. I get only letterboxed output from some Finnish DVB-T channels which quite often use widescreen format (e.g. Urheilukanava). (In anamorphic mode with 4:3 viewing everything would be too narrow and without black bars on bottom and top for 16:9 content).

I'm able to get widescreen output with dvbstream and mplayer (-w option for em8300setup and somewhat unlogically "-aspect 4:3" option for mplayer). In VDR 16:9 setting under DVB seems to have no effect.

There is also another problem which is outside VDR and Dxr3 plugin. Dxr3 kernel modules seem not use the WSS bit to inform TV for 16:9 mode change. My DVD player is able to do that. In analog devices datasheet for ADV717 WSS support is mentioned.

Has anybody found a solution for these?

P.S. Thanks for remux.c patch. Now frame freezes and other problems are gone!
