As I understood the memory for the "arm-software" and the OSDn is the same. 
And I don't think they can be extended. As I understood the new firmware 
provides less memory for OSD and further I understood that the OSD-memory can 
collide with the program memory and can so produce arm crashes on heavy load 
and heavy OSD-usage. So i guess a better firmware, without colliding OSD & 
programmcode/buffer-overflows would be better then more memory. I don't know 
how settop-boxes can handle this better ... .
