No need for a plugin-extension. Change the mplayer.sh script to write
stdout and stderr to /tmp/vdr.mplayer.output and put a line in
commands.conf that output the last 10 or 20 lines (e.g. tail -10
/tmp/vdr.mplayer.output or tail -20 /tmp/vdr.mplayer.output).
That's all ;-)
