[vdr] EPG and watchdog

hi,

yesterday i tried to record from a channel without EPG.
of course of my very bad signal and still upcoming "outcommand errors" i
have a watchdog timeout of 4! seconds.

VDR started the recording and after 4 seconds the watchdog timer expires
and the runvdr-script restarts VDR. after the VDR comes up, it gets
restarted again after 4 seconds.

after a look in the log-file i saw that VDR is waiting for EPG data..

i tried to set "Use episode name" to no, but nothing changes..
next step was to completely disable the watchdog. after that, a could
record channels without EPG. in the log-file i saw, that the complete wait
for EPG data took 11 seconds.

is this normal behavior?
i think "no EPG data" shouldn't let the watchdog timer expire.

any hints or thoughts??
