The EPG scan is normally done after five hours of inactivity, so I doubt
disabling it will help you with your restart loop.
I don't recall your previous mails, but have you talked with Klaus
Schmidinger about the restart problem?

The black picture problem though is due to a driver problem - AFAIK.
