[vdr] rid field in channels.conf - why?

Hi,

man 5 vdr says:

RID    The Radio ID of this channel (typically 0, may be used  to  dis-
       tinguish channels where NID, TID and SID are all equal).

- From scanning my Astra channels.conf and reading the standards, i have not 
been able to verify this.
Does anybody know a radio service that really requires this?
