The scanner plugin is different. Scanning for new channels by definition 
should block any other operation. The only way to achive that is to block 
vdr's main loop.
The next release will simply disable the watchdog during scanning. This is 
certainly not the correct solution as vdr could end up blocked forever. One 
of the next versions will probably reset the watchdog periodicaly while 
scanning, just like the main loop would.
