Do you have the recordings_length patch installed? This might be the
reason vdr is opening all marks files when displaying your recordings:
He has to read the marks to compute correct recording lengths. Maybe
consider about removing the patch if this helps you. Another sugestion
whould be of course to make the patch less "active", e.g. doing only
recording-length scans for the currently visible Recordings (like xmms
can be configuered, too, for its playlist view!).

@Tobias Faust: What do you think of this proposal for your patch. Do you
know what I mean with "like XMMS"?

@Klaus: Do you read (and parse) the complete _recursive_ diectory
structure or onle the currently selected level?
