[vdr] Re: Can eg. the xine-plugin do this?

Hi,

Now, as much as I like vdr, there is something I'd like to do a little
bit differently. Basically, I'd like to build a setup identical to stock
vdr, ie. with all the nice menus and functionality, with the exception
that I route the picture to my tv through my video adapter (a matrox
g400) instead of the tv-out of the dvb-c (siemens) card.
I think, this should be possible. At least I'll go that way, when my xine plugin and my VDR computer is ready for the living room :-)

I know this question has come up in the past but now I'm hoping that I
could make this work using the newly emerged xine-plugin. So the
question: Is it possible to use the xine-plugin so, that it actually
decodes the mpeg stream with the hw decoder of the dvb-c card instead of
a software decoder and then sends the stream to video adapter.
I don't think, that xine currently supports this kind of hardware decoder for general playback. But maybe in future, someone could write a decoder plugin for xine.

Another option that maybe could be used for what I'm seeking is the
streaming plugin? Or am I totally lost with this one?
Don't know much about that yet.

Bye.
