maybe you want to give it try

The handling is very easy, btw.

anine:/video # convert unixplay.jpg /tmp/test.mpg
Encoding frame 0 ..................
anine:/video # file /tmp/test.mpg
/tmp/test.mpg: MPEG video stream data
I've tried it, but I'm missing 'mpeg2encoder'. Then I tried mjpegtools' img2mpg, but there crashes mpeg2enc.

With the hints from x11out plugin, I was able to create a MPEG file with ffmpeg, but I didn't manage to create the shortest, fully standard conformant file, that just displays a single "no signal" image. I still need more help, like the example from above.

The next problem is, how do I convert the resulting MPEG file into a MPEG PES stream?

Is there free MPEG2 documention anywhere on the net?

Bye.
