[vdr] S/PDIF out on CS4299 codec

Hi,

What has to be done (patches/plugins/modules) to vdr and/or the kernel
to enable the DD sound from vdr to the S/PDIF-out connector of the mentioned chip?

I heared some times ago that linux does not support this output on the chip,
it is an AC97 codec wired to a i810 chipset.

This question may be off topic, a hint where to ask the specialists would help
a lot.
