[vdr] AW: Re: idea to save keys in dvd plugin

Hi list

The simplest way to change the audio language for example is with one key press. This functionality is a "special" functionality in DVD's you don't need the number keys normaly if you watch a DVD. For the VDR you need the number Keys (channel jump).
The most off all HT-Remotes or Universal-Remotes have a DVD-Modus so that you easily program the number key on the right key for the DVD-Modus.
So all special function like audio channels or angles or titles (jumping, change ....) must implemented in the Number Key. Thats the easiest way to support the most off all ours different Remote's (Can your Remote macros [Menu, green] on all Keys ???)

I vote yes! Complex plugins ok, but let's keep the keys simple; and
because we all have different remote controls, what is simple for one is
not logical for another, so CONSISTENCY should be very important!

See also my other posting on a inconsistency in VDR itself!

hi ppl! (and especially sven of course ;)

as far as i remember, with dvd plugin version 3.1 and libdvdnav-as there
was a very "vdr-near" version to change audio tracks:

press "menu" and then "green" for audio. (as it is handled within vdr).
i guess that's the way the vdr-used user would do it logically.

"menu-yellow" did change subtitles
"menu-red" - i can't remember (maybe it didn't do anything *g*)
"menu-blue" did stop the plugin (as all other plugins are ended as well)

so i think that would be a good way to save numpad keys for other
gimmiks and implement audio changing ect in a more natural "vdr-way".

what do you think?

servus hannes!
