[vdr] DVD files from broken *.vdr files

I have a recording that I would very much like to burn to DVD, but the 
first 10 minutes has been quite badly broken by severe rain fade from 
the satellite.

Can anyone suggest tools that will let me generate legal (and synced A/V 
wise) audio and video files that I can use to author a DVD from?

I have tried vdrsync, mplayer and TMPGenc (Windows) with no success.
