It really is an object-oriented port of the dsmcc plugin, and it is usable.
But the fact that your code is written for a thesis obviously changes things 
because you will have to do it on your own.
Do what you need to do to write a good thesis ;-)

Can you tell me which APIs you implement for your capture/display/control?

Yes, they provide some stubs, but no real implementation.
