[vdr] Re: Problems getting VDR starting

Hi,

I'm having some difficulty getting vdr strarted. I have no hardware
decoder and instead I've got the xine plugin. I'm starting vdr with
runvdr -Pxine but nothing appears on the console, am I right that
when using a software decoder you should get a xine window
showing the TV picture in the same way as doing
"cat /dev/dvr/adapter0/dvr0 | xine stdin:/" (which works fine
incidentally, so the card and driver are working)?

This appears when vdr is run:

[root@Linux vdr]# ./runvdr -Pxine
SetVolumeDevice: 255
SetPlayMode: 1
That's fine for that point of operation. The server part is running in VDR. You now need to start the client part:

xine vdr://tmp/vdr-xine/stream#demux:mpeg_pes

Please see the file INSTALL (which is contained in the vdr-xine archive) for more information.

Be aware, that at the moment, you cannot operate VDR by pressing keys in xine. I currently start VDR in a konsole window and xine's window has just the size to be positioned above that window (my resolution is 1280x1024). So I can easily operate VDR by activating konsole and typing the keys VDR has learned when it was started the first time.

You might have a look at my remote.conf:

When I run xine in fullscreen mode, I operate VDR via LIRC.

There are two other plugins, that open a xine window, when VDR is started. See VDR's plugin page and look for

Xv-Xine
Xinelibout

I use xvxine for cutting, because with my plugin you cannot do properly at the moment.

Bye.
