I don't know if you can get this running on linvdr !? 

But take a look at vdrconvert at http://vdrportal.homelinux.com/vdrconvert/

Also take a look at this thread. That patch helps a lot if the size of the
recodings are bigger than what goes on one DVD (helps calculate the right
requant compression) :

(you might have to use an older version for this patch to apply correct)
