[vdr] [Q] How to convert video clip to .vdr

Hello out there,

after having got a pointer to a nice and easy way to build a DVD from more 
than one vdr recording by:

(1) creating a new directory brace in /video
(2) linking all the .vdr video files there
(3) genindex (http://linvdr.org/download/linvdr/beta/genindex.tar.gz)
(4) finally use the recordings menu

it would be nice to be able to convert little clips (or maybe longer videos 
too) for the transitions between the videos. Is there already a way to do so? 
Or did I miss a better way to reach the same effect?
