Don´t know if DVD-lab makes it correctly, but some kind of DVD slideshow
functionality is in fact part of the DVD standard. In professional authoring
tools you have the possibility to stop the video at certain cells for several
seconds. This way, diashows are possible even if the DVD-Standard itself does
not support stills like the (S)VCD standard does. If you import an image it is
in fact converted to a short MPEG-2 video with a cell time pause of 5
seconds.
Unfortunately, I don´t know the technical details, but I know DVDMaestro
that support this feature :-)

With kind regards

Jörg
